Why Logitech G502 Lightspeed?
First of all, let me tell you that the Logitech G502 has been the company’s most popular wired mouse. For several years, people have said that the only feature that could make the Logitech G502 better is the wireless capability. Well, the company has heard the request of users loud and clear, and it has answered gamers’ requests by releasing the Logitech G502 Lightspeed wireless mouse. The newer version has been rebuilt from the ground up. It comes with the latest Lightspeed wireless technology, the HERO16K sensor, and POWERPLAY compatibility. You might be wondering why I claim that Logitech G502 Lightspeed is the best wireless mouse available out there in the market. Well, it is the most well-rounded choice if you want an efficient and long-lasting battery, comfort, and the best selection as well as arrangement of buttons. The beautiful design of this mouse accommodates multiple grip styles. Moreover, the company’s companion software is a breeze to use. The model also has rock-solid wireless connectivity so you will not have to deal with a wire tangling. In simple words, it is a great gaming mouse for gamers who do not want to compromise on anything. It is a fast and accurate performer and it has the best features of gaming and general-use mice all rolled into one. The main buttons of this mouse deliver a satisfying bounce response when you tap them.
Design and Features
Let me tell you that it is a beautiful rectangular mouse, which blends sleek curves with touches of gloss against a matte shell. The mouse indeed looks futuristic that would feel right at home in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. The mouse weighs around 114 grams, which makes it one of the heaviest in Logitech’s G line. With that being said, the modest extra weight is clearly by design. I would say that this mouse is still lightweight enough to glide effortlessly across hard and soft surfaces. And at the same time, it is heavy enough to offer you excellent control. It features 11 programmable buttons. Well, it has that standard left, right, and middle mouse clicks. To the left of your index finger, you will find two extra buttons. Moreover, the mouse wheel also tilts left and right for two more inputs. And there is a programmable button underneath the mouse wheel clutch. Pressing this button will display the battery level. Here, it is worth noting that the company has installed three indicator lights along the left side. And there are the Forward and Back thumb buttons below these buttons. Moreover, there is a Sniper button too below the lights. This button will lower the DPI as long as you hold it, which is great for lining up long-distance shots on games like PUBG. Talking about the size of this mouse, it fits comfortably in the hand and the thumb flange is just perfectly positioned. You might also want to note that the rubberized grips on the sides of this mouse keep it from slipping from the hand. When you will flip it over, this mouse gets even more interesting. You will find the on/off switch as well as a small, circular pop-out compartment. Well, this compartment, by default, stores the wireless dongle. It can also store the two optional 4-gram weights. It also has a removable panel where metallic weights can be added. It runs on the Logitech G Hub software, which allows you to customize DPI, control backlighting, and program all the buttons of this mouse. You can also program the color of the G logo on the palm rest, however, that’s the only part of this mouse that lights up. Some people might say that the DPI monitor on the side, lights up, as well. However, the light is so small that a person hardly notices it. According to the company, this mouse can go up to 48 hours between charges. The company had to rework the entire internal design of the mouse in order to introduce new features such as Lightspeed, which is the company’s in-house wireless technology that Logitech claims compete with the wired mice of competitors. The model offers a 1ms response time.
POWERPLAY Compatibility and HERO16K
Another amazing feature of this model is POWERPLAY compatibility. Now, if you own the POWERPLAY charging system, you can ensure that your mouse stays charged by using it with the POWERPLAY pad. Moreover, the sensor of this mouse, Logitech’s HERO16K, offers pixel-perfect tracking customizable from 100 DP to 16,000 DPI. The mouse lets you save up to five different DPI settings onboard.
It is a very versatile mouse thanks to its large amount of buttons. Although the Logitech G502 Lightspeed works amazingly in every game, it really shines with first-person shooters. For example, if you are playing PUBG, the Sniper button can really help you. You will feel more accurate and less twitchy in your hand. Moreover, the additional buttons of the mouse help you by letting you keep your gadgets right on your index finger and crouch and prone on the thumb, which allows you to keep your left hand on your movement controls.
Logitech G Hub Software
Lastly, we need to talk about the G Hub software, which lets you completely customize every single button on the mouse. The software is incredibly user-friendly. For example, if you want to record a macro, you just need to go to the Actions tab and select the macro reading option. Then, type in your command string. The software also allows you to assign a mix of Commands, Keys, and Actions on their respective tabs. Using the Command tab, you can choose from several Windows shortcuts, which allow you to drag and drop functions such as volume control onto the mouse wheel. In comparison, the Actions tab allows you to map software functions for applications such as Discord and OBS. The G Hub software also lets you control your lighting effects. Using this function, you can customize the Logitech G logo as well as the three indicator lights on the left side of the mouse. And inside the G Hub software, users can program their DPI and map a total of five settings.
In the end, I would say that the Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless mouse has almost every feature that you will find in a wireless model. However, it does not have one feature, you know, wireless capability. So, what do you think about this gaming mouse? Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
